Tegeta Green Planet CEO Shalva Akhvlediani Appeared on Radio Ucnobi

On April 15, 2026, the Executive Director of Tegeta Green Planet, Shalva Akhvlediani, appeared on the air of Radio Ucnobi, alongside Giorgi Guliashvili, Chairman of Wasteless. The main topic of discussion was “How Waste Can Be Transformed into a Resource” - one of the most important and relevant directions of the modern circular economy.

During the broadcast, the guests spoke about the importance of proper management of automotive waste, particularly end-of-life tyres, and discussed the environmental and economic challenges currently facing both the world and Georgia. Special emphasis was placed on the idea that tyres should no longer be perceived solely as environmentally hazardous waste. Through modern technologies and circular economy models, they can instead be transformed into valuable resources suitable for reuse across various industries.

Particular interest was generated around the topic of rubber-modified asphalt. The speakers discussed international practices and the opportunities that could soon become a reality for Georgia in this field. According to them, rubber-modified asphalt is already successfully used in many countries worldwide due to its durability, noise-reducing properties, and ability to improve road infrastructure quality. At the same time, this technology significantly reduces negative environmental impact and contributes to effective waste management.

The discussion also highlighted the important steps already taken in Georgia toward the development of sustainable road infrastructure. As a continuation of this process, the guests referenced the international conference GRAS 2026 (“Georgia Rubberised Asphalt Summit 2026”), held in Tbilisi on March 16, 2026, organized by Tegeta Green Planet and Wasteless.

The main goal of the conference was to support the development of sustainable road infrastructure and promote the exchange of international experience in rubber-modified asphalt technologies. The event brought together local and international experts, private sector representatives, and decision-makers who discussed innovative technologies, environmental challenges, and the opportunities associated with implementing circular economy principles.

The program once again became an important platform for raising environmental awareness and clearly demonstrated that the circular economy is not only an ecological responsibility, but also a foundation for new economic opportunities and sustainable development.
