Tegeta Green Planet Holds Environmental Campaign in Khobi

To promote environmental responsibility and encourage the proper management of specific waste streams, Tegeta Green Planet, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held an informational and practical campaign, “Don’t Throw It Away, Hand It In,” in Khobi.

The campaign, held on October 27, aimed to inform local residents, vehicle owners, drivers, and private sector representatives, while encouraging their greater involvement in environmental initiatives. Participants received information about the importance of responsible automotive waste management and the available options for properly handing in such waste.

As part of the campaign, a dedicated waste collection point was set up in Khobi, giving local residents the opportunity to hand in end-of-life tires, used automotive batteries, and waste oils.

The high level of community engagement was particularly significant, reflecting growing public interest in environmental responsibility. Citizens’ active participation demonstrates the important role that raising awareness about proper waste management and providing practical collection opportunities play in fostering an environmental culture.

One of the campaign’s key objectives was to raise awareness of the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Participants learned about the role of EPR organizations in managing specific waste streams, the subsequent stages of waste management following collection, and the importance of importers fulfilling their legally established obligations.

To encourage public participation in the waste collection process, symbolic gifts were also provided to campaign participants. The initiative helped raise awareness of the joint efforts of Tegeta Green Planet and UNDP in the region and strengthen opportunities for cooperation with local businesses.

In cooperation with UNDP, Tegeta Green Planet continues to implement regional campaigns and educational projects throughout Georgia. The organization aims to foster a culture of responsible waste management, raise public awareness, and promote the adoption of circular economy principles.
