On September 22, representatives of Tegeta Green Planet held a meeting and practical workshop with students of the Institute of Design. The main objective of the meeting was to provide students with information about the proper management of specific waste, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and the waste recycling process, while also connecting these topics to the field of design.

Students also learned about the journey specific waste goes through, from collection to final treatment. Particular attention was given to the recycling of used tires and how waste can be transformed into a new resource and material for creating new products.

As part of the workshop, representatives of Tegeta Green Planet presented students with real material samples, as one of the main topics of the workshop was the connection between tire recycling and design. The meeting featured rubber samples in different sizes and colors, produced from recycled tires.

During the meeting, students discussed how materials obtained from recycled tires can be used to create new products and what role design plays in this process from creating new value from waste to developing a product’s functional and visual identity.

At the end of the meeting, students were given a practical assignment. Their task is to develop a product concept using material obtained from recycled tires and create its complete identity. The assignment will allow students to connect their design knowledge with a real environmental challenge and explore firsthand how waste can become the basis for creating a new product.

For Tegeta Green Planet, education and raising environmental awareness are important areas of its work. The organization actively cooperates with educational institutions and shares information with young people about the proper management of specific waste, the circular economy, and the reuse of resources.
